Interview with Susan

What makes you good at what you do?

I am kind and deeply compassionate. One of my strengths is to give people their own space to heal. I am comfortable with (and compassionate about) whatever you may need to share with me, along with your style of emotional release.

What is your healing philosophy?

I believe that this era is one in which people are taking back their own power. My philosophy is that the deepest, most powerful and complete healing happens when you reach inside and heal yourself. I am simply a guide and facilitator; I hold the space for you while you do your healing work.

What is your style or approach?

I accept you as you are – I understand what it is to be human, with all our weaknesses and strengths. I believe that people want to be well, and that any dysfunctional emotions or behaviors are simply attempts to take care of themselves in the only way that they know at the time. I have an innate ability to see people’s strengths and possibilities for growth.

Why do you do what you do?

I was born to help people to heal. In my teens, I was very interested in past lives. This interest got put on the back burner while I got experience in the human and system dynamics of working in a corporate environment.

When I worked as an analyst, I learned that I like to find patterns and hidden answers. When I worked in sales, I discovered that I loved to listen to both what people said and what was left unsaid, and that it was fulfilling to help them to meet their needs.

As it became apparent to me that it was time to move on from this career, I began to pray for guidance, and became aware that I am here to work as a healer. As this realization developed, I was guided to resources that would facilitate my journey into healing, both for myself and for others. It has been an incredible journey.

Tell me about your education and training

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Elmhurst College, a Masters in Communications from Governor’s State University, and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.

Also I am certified as an Advanced Clinical Hypnotherapist, as a Release Therapist (breathwork), as a RoHun therapist (chakra cleansing) and in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

I started my hypnotherapy training with the Wellness Institute in Seattle in 2000, and have done additional work in Shamanic and Subtle Energy Healing with them. Through the Wellness Institute, I have studied healing in areas such as Past Life, Interlife, pre- and peri-natal (re-birthing), Gestalt, Psychodrama, Soul Retrievals, Spirit Releasement (clearing elementals, entities, aliens, thought forms, and other energy attachments), and Shadow work. The Wellness Institute also helped us to understand the phenomenon of Shock…how our bodies hold and replay traumas we experienced.

In Fall 2004 I earned my International Certificate in Aromatherapy.

I feel blessed to be able to continue to study and learn the healing arts. In addition, I am fortunate to have been on – and to continue to be on – my own healing journey. In healing, I believe that the client can only go as deeply as the therapist has been. I have walked through my own pain and faced my own fears. When we are working together, you can be certain that I understand your journey. As your guide, I hold my hand out to help you along your path. My understanding is based on experience.

How many years have you been practicing professionally?

I have been joyfully assisting people on their healing journey since 1999.

How do you see your services evolving over the next few years?

Currently I see people individually, and I plan to continue this. In addition, I have a passion to follow in my teacher’s footsteps to “teach the teachers and heal the healers.” To this end, I continually study and learn. It is important to me to always be growing, both personally and professionally.

What else might someone want to know about you?

I have a great sense of humor and love to laugh. I meditate and love to chant. I love harmonious music and also can become immersed in beautiful silence. I like to create gardens and in doing so, focus on providing sanctuary for birds and other wildlife. I am most fortunate to have a loving and supportive husband.
